OCTOBERFEST A SUCCESS (Held October 1 & 2, 2011)

We were truly blessed with beautiful weather for our annual festival. Thanks be to God! Thank you to everyone for your tireless help in making this one of the best Fall Festival Octoberfests we have had. We cannot list everyone individually, but you all are appreciated. We would like to thank those on the organizing committee who coordinated the event. Job well done!

As of today, we are still awaiting the food and beer expenses for Saturday and Sunday, but so far, we have netted $15,000 to help with the expenses of our parish.

CAPTION: The St. Columban Catholic Church Octoberfest was held this past weekend (Oct. 1 and 2) on the church grounds along Trenton Street. The event lived up to its promise of entertainment for all ages, including a beer garden, giant inflatable slide, hay ride, mini golf, carriage rides, and live, traditional German polka music from Alpen Spielers, just to name a few. This was the event's 38th year running.

Octoberfest 2011 Unsung Heroes - St. Columban Catholic Church is blessed to have many people who give of their time. This year, we recognized John and Donna Sizemore whose generosity abounds on so many projects behind the scenes. They are truly a model for others to emulate and we are happy to celebrate them and show them our appreciations. May the Lord reward your kindness.

Octoberfest 2011 Grand Marshals - The Octoberfest Committee recognized Bob, Frances, and Louise Archer as the festival Grand Marshals to reign over the Octoberfest. Over the years, their support of the church and school has been evidenced by their generosity, their time, their work and their prayers. Our Church is fortunate to be the recipient of your kindness.

OCTOBERFEST - October 3, 2010

Kid-size bowling and a giant inflatable slide were just two attractions at St. Columban's Octoberfest Sunday afternoon on the church grounds. Festivities included bingo, a cake walk, flea market and live entertainment as well as games for kids. In addition to the bowling and the slide, children could ride a train around the grounds, go fishing for prizes, take a pony ride, climb a rock wall and jump around in a bounce house. A baby contest was also held.

Bingo was a popular activity for some people who attended St. Columban's Octoberfest Sunday afternoon. The day also included live entertainment by the Bonderer, Case and Clark Band and lots of games and activities for children.
