Tom's Tomes February 4, 2007
I want to thank all those who have been praying for my health. My health continues to give me some difficulties and it is very much a day to day situation and condition. I would just ask you to continue to keep me in your prayers as well as the doctors and medical personnel who are keeping me going. We are in the deep of winter and it is a time when there are a lot of people who struggle with utility bills and other bills to keep their family going. We have been given a little bit of money from Catholic Charities to assist those in need. If you know of someone who could use a little help please have them call the parish office. As my health and time allows and as long as the money is available we will help those whom we can. It is always difficult to determine who needs the assistance and who does not. If you know of someone who might need assistance please have them call and we will see if we will be able to help them out. I want to thank all those who helped in removing the ice and snow from the sidewalks and parking lots around our parish grounds. We still have plenty of ice and snow on the north side of the Church building and I would continue to invite you to be cautious as you walk on the north side of the Church building. The PTO at their last meeting invited the members of the PTO to help out every once in a while on a Saturday with different things which need to be accomplished around the school and church area. We did this once before this year with the Knights of Columbus and PTO and in a few hours we had a lot of things accomplished. I would invite parishioners to help out on our next work Saturday which will be Saturday, February 24, 2007, from 8:30 am until 11:30 am. This means a person would not be here all day. With many hands a lot of things are able to be accomplished. It builds community between the people of the church and school and it would be a great opportunity to help one another. I am hoping by that time it will warm up and many things would be able to be accomplished. If you have a particular skill or trade and would be able to help on that day please call the parish office and let us know. I will be developing a list of things which we need accomplished and if we have several people who are able to help out that will help everyone out. As parishioners we all need to take pride in all of our property. There are many things which need to be accomplished. If many people show up to help on this particular Saturday we are able to make our parish property look nicer and it will make a difference to all who come to pray here as well as make a difference in our community. You are the ones who can help. I know many people find the weekends the only time they have to do the things they can do but there are lots of things which can be done here at St. Columban’s and Bishop Hogan which will help to make our parish look nicer. God bless you and have a great week. |
