Fr.
Tom's Tomes April 13, 2008
This weekend is the 5th Annual Bishop Hogan Dinner Auction. Many people of the school and parish communities make this event possible. Also many, many Chillicothe people and businesses contribute to the support of the dinner auction. The proceeds from the dinner auction go directly to the operation of the school. Many people wonder if all the proceeds go to the school and they all do. This is a great way to support the school and provide for Catholic Education here in Chillicothe. Also beginning this month the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph will begin a year or longer process of strategic planning for CatholicSchools in the Diocese. There is a meeting on April 21, 2008, in Kansas City to begin this process. By the end of the school year the diocesan committee will be working to collect data as well as organizing to discuss the future of Catholic Education in the diocese. I would invite you to keep reading your Catholic Key to the News to keep up on the information which will be coming from this planning committee. Bishop Hogan School is also working on the information needed for their accreditation process. December 14 and 15, 2008, there will be two accrediting teams visiting the school. This is the first time Bishop Hogan will be dually accredited. In the past the school has been accredited by Missouri Non-Public Accrediting Association and now we will also be accredited by AdvancEd which formally was known as North Central Accreditation. Both accrediting organizations goal is to continue to assist schools in continuing school improvement and advancement of students progress. As we are coming close to the end of the school year I am asking if someone would like to be in charge of Vacation Bible School (VBS). Last year we had a very successful VBS and I would like for it to continue. The children of the parish came together and were able to enjoy a week of sharing faith and knowledge. I would like for someone to call the parish office and let us know that you would be willing to coordinate or co-coordinate VBS. We do have a list of volunteers who signed up last Fall to help with VBS. Now is the time we need to pick out dates to host VBS and get our planning started. June 11 and 12 students in high school are invited to go on a river float on the Niagara River in southern Missouri around Lebanon, Missouri. We will be joining high school youth from Clinton and Harrisonville, Missouri. Joining together is a great way to meet new friends and to have a wonderful time. If you are interested in attending please let Fr. Tom know. We are also in need of a couple of adults to help with the river float. These dates were established to avoid weekend conflicts and to provide the opportunity for a great time on the river. God bless you and have a blessed week. |
