Tom's Tomes July 13, 2008
Work is continuing in the St. Columban’s School Building. A lot of time has been spent on removing the old wax off of the floors, applying new sealer and wax. Immediately after school was complete for the 2007-2008 school year many volunteers came out and helped to paint the cafeteria, gym, bathrooms, and a few other areas of the building. We are still in the process of updating the bathrooms in the school. When older buildings are updated it is sometimes a little hard to find all of the parts which are needed to be sure everything works well. I want to thank Bill Haynes for his time in helping Jarrod Marshall and Bill Potts to obtain parts. Jarrod and Bill have been working very hard to improve both the boys and girls bathrooms in the school. People have been asking to take a peak and I have been asking them to wait until the whole project is accomplished. Because the gym floor is not waxed at this time the Basketball
Camp had to be postponed. On Thursday, July 10, 2008, Jim Luzader volunteered his time and talent to paint the three point The following week Vacation Bible School will be taking place. Vacation Bible School is a wonderful experience for all the youth of the parish. I hope all parents will take advantage of having your children come and be with other children for Vacation Bible School. This is one time during the year when all of the children of the parish can come together to learn about God and our faith. Children of all faiths are welcomed to come and join us. Vacation Bible School is at this time of July to avoid summer sports and other things. Make it a family affair to come and be with other members of St. Columban’s for Vacation Bible School. Next weekend for Mass there will be a visiting priest talking about Food for the Poor. This organization works with helping feed the hungry of the world. There will not be a second collection but he will be asking for your support. If you are able to do so please support the hungry of the world. In Chillicothe we continue to see the need to feed the hungry grow. When Cornerstone Church hosts it’s monthly help to those who are in need the line for food starts early and is a long line. As prices for fuel, utilities, medicine, and food continue to climb we will continue to see many more people needing help with food. At one time there was an emergency food location here at the Catholic Church and we may need to return to helping those in need. I would like to mention that on Sunday afternoon, July 13, I will be going to Rockford, Illinois for some time to a medical clinic there. Last summer I spent a week at this clinic to help with my fybromyalgia and it gave me some relief. I am going back this summer for some more assistance. At the time of the writing of this bulletin I plan on being gone from July 13 through July 26. After that time I will see what happens. God bless you and have a joy filled week. |
