Fr. Tom's Tomes December 24, 2006

This weekend we end the season of Advent. Sunday we celebrate the fourth Sunday of Advent and in the afternoon we begin the season of Christmas. Advent is the season of preparing for the coming of Christ. Our preparation is not just to remember the birth of Christ but more so the coming of Christ at the end of the world. Our lives should be a movement always to look at the time when we will be meeting Jesus Christ face to face. As we come close to the end of the calendar year I would invite all parishioners to think about your donation to the parish. We are trying to reduce the debt of money which has been borrowed in the past to operate the parish and school. I would invite and ask all families of the parish to consider giving an extra gift to the parish. Your gift to the parish would be of help to the parish. I do appreciate all of the support and help all parishioners have given to the parish and I would ask you to continue to help out. At times people need to make a contribution to help with their taxes for the end of the year. If you would like to make a contribution to help with your taxes for this calendar year you can bring it by the rectory until Thursday so that it can be deposited in this calendar year. I would invite you to remember we can use your gift to run the parish and school. The school is a mission of the parish and the salaries for the teachers is a great expense and we need everyone’s help in paying for the ministries of our parish.

Please remember our Christmas Mass schedule is 5:00 pm on December 24, Midnight on December 24 and again at 9:00 am on December 25, 2006. I would like to thank Fr. Dan Reardon who will celebrate the Mass at 9:00 am on December 25. Dan grew up in our parish and is home visiting his family for the Christmas holidays At this time Dan is stationed in the Navy and is serving the Catholic men and women serving in our Navy at this time. There will not be a Mass on Tuesday, December 26, 2007. The Mass schedule for the remainder of the week is on the cover of the bulletin.

Bishop Hogan School is out for Christmas vacation and the children will return January 2, 2007 at 8:00 am. This is a change from the original school calendar sent out. We will return early because of the two ice days which occurred earlier this year.

God bless you and have a peace filled Christmas.
